Day of the Dead

Last Monday was invited by the Mexican Ambassador to his event at the Singapore Art Museum. To celebrate the Day of the Dead.

In Mexico, it is a big thing, apparently. They celebrate it over 2 days, all saints day and all souls day. It is a colorful celebration with food, flowers, music and candles. They used to visit the cemeteries to celebrate the lives of the departed but now it is an event celebrated anywhere.

Caught up with the Ambassador and his wife and with Gerson. I have worked with Gerson over the last 3 plus years in setting up the Mexican Chamber but he has just been posted to Beijing. He leaves later this month.

With him gone soon, there will be really no one else I will know there. And even that day, there wasn’t anyone else I knew and could talk to.

I think my involvement with Mexico may slowly come to an end soon..
